Dear Reader, Why Does Sunday School Matter?
We often hear that whatever you put into something is what you’ll get out. We reap what we sow. What does that look like for Christians regarding the local church?
The church is not a building; it’s not a location. It’s people. It’s the people who gather within the walls of a designated space, leaving behind worries, frustrations, and fears to come together and worship Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.
Church is community, but not just any community. It is a gathering of people who may be very different in many ways but who love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love others from the overflow of Jesus’s love for them.
Something special happens when Christians come together in community. God unites us in purpose and hope. We aren’t designed to attend church as some weekly ritual or duty to relieve a false guilt. We were made for community, but not just any community. A community in which our hearts are knit together in our love for God, one another, and those in our community and the world.
How do we join as a community, as the church of the Living God? We engage with one another. We come early enough for Sunday school, a time of learning and fellowship, to get to know, encourage, and learn what to pray for one another.
Research has repeatedly shown that Christians who attend worship but don’t get plugged into the community of disciples at a local church soon stop attending worship altogether. Learning and serving with those who love Christ and others anchors a person in disciple-making. We want to teach others and make disciples, and we always have something to learn from someone farther along in his or her biblically grounded faith journey.
Here at Cahaba Heights Baptist Church, we are currently a small group with one Sunday school class. In that small class, we know about one another’s families, concerns, struggles, and needs. We pray for and encourage one another in daily life because, let’s face it, life is hard.
As we grow, we look forward to forming more small groups. For now, I encourage you to join us for Sunday school at 9:30 in the fellowship hall. Enter through the double doors closest to the larger parking lot. I hope to meet you soon!

We currently have Sunday school for adults and look forward to adding Sunday School classes for other groups as we grow. We have several ladies who have extensive experience teaching little ones to college-age.
Sunday Worship
Worship Service begins at 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary. Pastor Chris leads us in studying God's Word and worship. *Enter at the main side entrance at the large white columns.

We have adult Sunday School in the basement at 9:30 AM. Join us for great discussion over coffee. Enter at the lower double doors near the larger parking area.

The rhythm of our gathering
We take the privilege and command to worship seriously. That said, it's all about Christ. It's not about us, our emotions, or experiences. While we don't take worship for granted, we also cherish the genuine friendships we form during worship, Sunday School, support groups, and fellowships.

We sometimes use the LifeWay Sunday School curriculum and sometimes go through a custom-designed study to meet a current need.
Our service is anchored in reading and responding in prayer to Scripture as our call to worship, responsive readings, and classic hymns that affirm sound doctrine and connect us to the global church across centuries.
We study scripture verse-by-verse, honoring its historical context and theological depth rather than offering quick topical advice.
Rooted in fellowship
God calls us to gather in corporate worship and to do life together, so that's what we do. We love one another, lend helping hands, and pray earnestly for one another.

We gather every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM for Sunday School and 10:30 for worship. Come as you are, bring your hard questions, and gather with a community knit together in love for Christ and love for one another because of Christ.
